René De La Voye

René De La Voye was the son of René and Isabelle Bélanger. He was born in Rouen, France on the 28th November 1628. He married Anne Godin in Québec city on the 19th April 1656, and most likely arrived in New France the previous year. It was on Côte de Beaupré that he rented a parcel of land along with a cabin on which he and his family settled. On the 7th October 1665, he obtains a land concession of three arpents from Seigneur Charles Aubert de La Chesney.

Anne and René had eight children, all born at Côte de Beaupré.

The oldest, René was a servant at the seminary of Québec and married Marguerite Bouchard who bore him ten children all born at Petite-Rivière St-François. Jean settled at Rivière-Ouelle with Madeleine Boucher. Thirteen children were born from that union, Jean was also one of the heroes of Rivière-Ouelle who pushed back general Phipps and his men in 1690. Anne married Pierre Allard in 1683 but died shortly after giving birth to her second child. The fourth child of René and Anne, named Pierre, married twice, first to Constance Duchesne in 1696 who will give him four children including one son and, in 1716 to Madeleine Tourneroche who, in turn, will bear him three daughters. Jacques also will marry twice, in 1706 to Angélique Garant and in 1719 to Marie Barbeau, who will bear him five and six children respectively, all baptised at St-François de la Petite-Rivière or Baie St-Paul. Marie-Madeleine will bear nine children for Pierre Godard and Brigitte, wife of Charles Routhier, will give birth to eight . Joseph, the youngest will marry twice, in 1701, to Françoise Guimont who will give birth to eight children and in 1726, to Catherine Allaire.Of the five sons of this ancestor, only Joseph will remain in the family cradle, on the fertile lands of Sainte-Anne and of Saint-Joachim. Pierre will found a branch at Cap Saint-Ignace and Jean, at Rivière-Ouelle and surrounding parishes; René and Jacques will settle at Petite-Rivière-St-François and Baie-Saint-Paul.
